The poppy room provides childcare for those from two to three years old. The ratio is four children to one staff member and we are registered to care for twenty children per session. We provide age appropriate resources that encourage every child to thrive and develop in the most effective way possible.
Within this bright and friendly room we have various areas of play for example, a home corner, quiet area, malleable area, maths area, creative area, sand and water area.
These are all in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stages which is the necessary framework for children from birth to five years old.
Poppies have their own bathroom facilities which includes a nappy changing station, two toilet cubicles and a few potties for those training or who have been trained.
We also have “free-flow” access to the large soft surface play area which is shared with the Sunflower Room, this play area is partially covered for outdoor play when the weather is not permitting. In addition there is a large storage shed containing various outdoor equipment including bikes, cars and scooters as well as alternative equipment to encourage group or role play activities.
There is also access to a re-landscaped field area, featuring a wooden rope bridge, large sandpit and musical windpipe features. In addition there is also a designated area for children to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
