Dear Families,
In Religion the children are learning how to live as children of God, how we live as a family, and a community. In our present unit we will be reading about Moses leading God’s people and the Ten Commandments.
Weather has been our topic in the Reading Unit. Every story and poem that the class is reading discusses how the weather affects our environment. It teaches the students about different types of weather such as rain, hail, snow, thunder, lightning, hurricanes, and tornadoes.
We will continue to learn new spellings for the long vowels and Home Connection letters will keep you posted on the readings for the coming lessons.
In Math we have been learning about tens and ones to 100. Using manipulatives is the best way to teach and understand this concept. We will continue with this and revisit addition by adding numbers up to 19. Two minute drills will be introduced next week. A letter will come home explaining this.
In Social Studies we will be discussing what choices people make to get the things they want. It teaches the services and goods provided in your community. Please make your child aware of this as you shop for goods and use the services in your neighborhood.
Many thanks for your great support and working with your child at home. Please make sure that he/she reads every single night. I have seen such great progress.
